In the new statement of Ayatollah Qassem on Bahrain’s upcoming elections (July 13, 2022)

The completion of the election process, according to its reactionary and unjust plan, aimed at achieving the focused authoritarian goals of unilateral policy, and contrary to the interest of the people, is nothing but a new setback for the homeland, a further deepening of the people’s plight, a consolidation of dictatorship, and a prolongation of the general ordeal suffered by the people of this dear country.

The believers in the law of Islam should not remain silent about the unjust electoral scheme, which aims to draw the fate of the people against their will, and to further marginalise and ignore their interests.

What is required of everyone, the believer in the justice of religion, and the claimant who pretends to love the country, to object these false elections, which circumvent their rights. Besides, if the elections go ahead, against their will, then they must absolve themselves of it, so that their will is not revoked, on the pretext of their public or silent consent to be enslaved.

Serious efforts to hold fair elections is required. With the failure of these efforts; hence, it is necessary to explicitly reject any deceptive election. It is grave for the people to remain silent over an unjust election and to appear satisfied with it.

It is absolutely not right for the people to give an opportunity to any [authority] to leak a false claim that they participated in the unfair election, or that they remained silent about it, in such a manner the could be comprehended that they have pledged allegiance to relinquishing their will and nullifying their right to freedom, and that they have voluntarily consented to the act of servitude.

Further, if the government wanted the good for this country, for its entire people, it would not have deviated from fair elections -with all that guarantees them justice, fairness and honesty- to fraudulent and false elections, which are supported only by hack-media and misleading propaganda financed by the national treasure.
