Ayatollah Qassem’s statement on Bahrain’s plan to establish a Jewish neighborhood in Manama
In the name of God, the most Merciful
The Jewish neighborhood, which is to be established by the Bahraini government on the land of Manama, is a replacement of the Islamic and Arab national identity, a distortion of the history of the homeland, an erasure of the evidence of the originality of the indigenous citizens, and an opening of the door for the Israeli occupation.
All of this is a crime against the people and a denial of their right to their land. It is only consistent with a baseless claim about the de facto rule’s ownership of the people and the country, against their will, against the religion, against the indisputable logic and against the human freedom that all people enjoy alike.
It is a flagrant injustice on the part of a government whose constitution – which sees the people as the source of powers – and thus such a decision is unconstitutional.
