Ayatollah Isa Qassem’s statement on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Bahrain in November

In the name of of Allah the Merciful

Peoples’ waiver of their political right – and their other rights – to the governments is a grave crime and a double-edged corruption.

The unarguable choice is either elections that settles the people’s crises, or no popular participation that may escalate the regime’s despotism and tyranny.

However, those looking for wealth and position turn deaf ears to the truth, nor do they care about the disasters of peoples.

Dissecting the elections reminds the peoples of the right of the martyrs and tortured prisoners – a right they hold over their shoulders, provokes their fervour for their religion and dignity, and strengthens their adherence to their right to freedom and honour.

It is quite startling that the elections turn into an opportunity to the governments to manipulate and deceive the people, and to reinforce dictatorship under the guise of democracy. Hence, watch out [my people].
