Ayatollah Qassem: Bahrain’s government seriously endeavors for meager & sham settlement.. Some in the opposition strangely stand by waiting for its settlements

Bahrain’s government: Yesterday and Today

Not long ago, Bahrain’s government was, neither psychologically nor practically, ready to speak even a single word about reforming or changing the over-all own-making terrible political and rights situation.

Practically, today, and in order to preserve the survival of some regimes and to ward off dangerous caveats -considering the global and régional change which pressures the existing policy of Bahrain’s regime- change has become inevitable.

Indeed, the final battle these regimes are waging today is not to drop the demand for change and tolerate it, but rather a battle for a mild and fictitious change. Various intensive efforts are exerted to form a public opinion, which accepts bogus settlement, and which fails to extirpate any of the rampant injustice and marginalization.

The government has a clear vision in this matter and the way to achieve it is clear as well. Its endeavor to achieving it on the ground is serious and resolute. Its means are well-thought-out and firm. And its policy is busy preparing for meager formal settlements.

What is strange is the matter of some of the opposition, who stand as a bystanders of what the ruling regime is doing, as if they are waiting for it to decide the people’s fate, which is reciprocally their own fate; the cause which they have long shouldered the responsibility to protect.

None of the mutual understanding meetings and encounters between the opposition factions and activists is in Bahrain’s favour, in contrast to the government’s endeavor to circumvent the status quo that requires definite change. Besides, coordination, gathering forces and unifying the postions are not enough for settlement, for restoring rights and for fulfilling the demands.

It is reckless to wait for the government’s will. Further, it is a surrender to its executive options, and perhaps that could be waiting for a fierce battle between the opposition factions if the government imposes a jerk settlement, which has already-prepared public opinion and opposition.

If there’s an intention to achieve viable national stability and to give an opportunity to build a strong country; both the opposition and the government are mistaken in the path which will end up with a nominal sham settlement, which lacks serious content and which fails to do justice to the people recognizing them as the source of power and after recognizing their servitude to their Creator, who are fundamentally obliged to obey.
