Ayatollah Qassim’s statement on the coronavirus outbreak in Bahrain
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The honorable religious scholars in our dear country, Bahrain, have directed the citizens to take precautions and be careful of the spread of coronavirus among individuals and groups, pursuant to their religious duty, and they called upon the believers to suspend all religious and social activities. The statement of the three religious scholars specified a period of time in the hope that the outbreak would end. However, if the danger kept increasing or did not decrease, this suspension must continue until there is no more danger in order to preserve lives, which cannot be sacrificed without clear permission from the Islamic Law.
The believers must note that the danger that prevents gatherings in Hussainiyas also prevents, with the same momentum and strength, gatherings in mosques or any gathering place for men or women, whether public or domestic, which leads to the transmission of the disease.
All that has to do with preventing or reducing the spread of the disease, according to what the specialists recommend – and as mentioned by the scholars – should be done. It is necessary to follow the health instructions issued by well-known competent authorities and those who are knowledgeable and trusted in this field.
What should be added to that is resorting to God Almighty, invoking Him, and reciting the dua (prayers) quoted from the holy family of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them), in such a harsh circumstance.
Lord, have merci on us, and treat us with forgiveness.
May the peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.
Isa Ahmed Qassim
