Al-Wefaq: attack on Ayatollah Qassim’s home is intentional and planned, authority’s top official takes responsibility

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society has followed up on the details of the savage attack on the home of the member of the constituent council and the national council that wasclosed in August 1975 and the most prominent national and religious figure Sheikh Issa Qassim. Al-Wefaq has studied the details of the denounced crime and concluded that it was premeditation, intentional and planned for crime, and was no spontaneous, momentary or personal behavior.
Al-Wefaq praised to the Bahraini masses as well as the Arabic and Islamic events held outside Bahrain, and which all expressed their refusal of the oppressive and provocative attack on Sheikh Issa Qassim’s house in the early morning hours of Friday 17th May.
Al-Wefaq said, according to the constitution the head of the authority is responsible for ensuring protection of citizens’ freedoms, religions and beliefs. Al-Wefaq also mentioned that this crime can only take place with higher approval and intention, adding, this can only be proven wrong by clear accountability of those who committed the crime and passed down orders to do so.
Al-Wefaq has documented around 330 home raids over the past six weeks, and that the regime forces failed to show legal warrants in, the latest of which was the home of Sheikh Issa Qassim.
Al-Wefaq stated, “The international community takes responsibility to protect the Bahraini people from this repressive authority which lacks the people’s representation. The international community must bring the Bahraini regime to live up to its pledges of providing security and justice and equality to all Bahrainis by under a political system in which the people are the source of all powers according to article 21 of the Universal Charter of Human Rights, and article 25 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to form a democratic political system all Bahrainis can participate in without discrimination.
Al-Wefaq also demanded an independent United Nations committee be formed to inquire all criminal acts and hold accountable those involved in daily systematic and outrageous human rights violations taking place in Bahrain in front of the world.
“It is necessary for states which have judicial and security agreements with Bahrain and are training Bahraini officials in these fields to take responsibility to bind the Bahraini government to respect international covenants and human rights charters, else, these agreements must be canceled and those who infringed them so they are not involved in the perpetrated violations”, al-Wefaq pointed out.
