Ayatollah Qassim: The Authority’s Aim is the Abortion of the Movement through the Repression

Ayatollah Isa Qassim: The authority’s aim is the abortion of the movement through the repression, the prevention of the Special Rapporteur on Torture is an evidence of the systematic torture’s policy.

The second Friday sermon for Ayatollah ShaikhIsa Ahmed Qassim– political – (554) | 29Jumada II 1434 H, corresponding to 10 May 2013,Mosque of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) in Duraz

Two methods and one modified aim..

The aim of the authority has been always, in terms with its dealing with the demanding political popular movement, and from the very beginning, the abortion of the movement and working on its failure, making silence continue as the time passes as this will make demands forgotten as well.

The method which is used to achieve this goal is represented in the language of prison, the intensified punitive rulings, the collective punishment, clouds of death due to the suffocating and poisonous gases, dismissing from jobs, preventing from studying, stripping the nationality, the exaggerated accusations, insulting the characters, stirring up public opinions against certain targeted characters for more than a bad purpose, misinformation, and other vocabulary included in the method of repression.

This week, people have been informed about rulings of 15 years of imprisonment against 31 persons while people also know a number of martyrs who were killed under torture and know that the killers have not been harmed.  People know that more than one of innocent persons who have been subjected to the physical torture even though they did not participate in a march or a sit in, and then what, then no news about the killers, not to mention that there are no news about them being punished.

The laws now are in an active legislative evolution as they complete the messing from these methods, justify them, make them just and do not allow them to be discussed or touched. One of the methods that still continued to be followed is restrictions after restrictions, neglect of rights of expressions after neglect, and closing the doors to the freedom of the purposeful reforming committed political and religious speech.

The legislative institution -which is approved by the authority, and subjected to serve its policy-, has come out with a very advanced proposal in its commitment to religious and application of democracy, to impose a new cost for expressing opinion added to the existed exorbitant costs – a number of them have been mentioned before-!!!

Expressing opinion can be allowed but you have to expect the worst sanctions if you said a word of right which does not win the admiration of the authority!!!

Today, this proposal adds, a “twenty thousand dinars,” a price to be paid by those who want a political process which is subject to a complex web of laws, as this permanent method accompanied the movement from its beginning was to abort the movement, drop and silence it, and that is its goal.

The goal remains the same with an amendment that worsens it more, carried by the ways thedialogue that was called for by the authority as it seems until now, according to the structure  of the two parties and the practical progress,  as well as the violent resistance from the government; -in the stage of introductions and principles for any introduction or principle that represents a guarantee to achieve results that serve the demands of the people,- as if goal of the dialogue is to share the style of the violence –which government is using against the movement in order to stop, abort, and thwart it, but with something new and shameful this time which  requires the opposition in the dialogue to sign on dropping  and waiving  some of the main and most important movement’s demands, in a documented way that apparentlysshow  the freedom of choice.

Is it possible to see a serious desire from the official party towards the fair dialogue which could make the interlocutors come out from meeting with satisfactory results for the people , in light of its determination to represent the opposition with eight members in the dialoguewhile representing itself with nineteen members?

Is it possible to see a serious desire to abandon the policy of violence to the language of real understanding in light of preventing the visit of Special Rapporteur on Torture of the United Nations Mr. Juan Mendez, to carry out what is going on in this country after the agreement on the visit and schedule it? Isn’t it a clear proof on the policy of systematic torture, which authority fears of the issuance of an official certificate at this level of that matter?

All philanthropists, from this country and outside this country, wish an honest intention to thedialogue! A dialogue based on a successful and fair planning to come out with fair results that satisfy the people, end the crisis in the country, and lead to the extinction of this ordeal and avoid losses.

This is the wish; but, with deep regret, the fact is far from that – and is not in favor of the desired result.
